Erich Rothausen

Erich Adam Rothausen, 46, of Ferndale, WA, passed away early November 1, 2025, in his home with his wife and sister by his side.

Erich was born on September 13, 1979, in Bellingham and lived his whole life here in Ferndale. Erich went to Custer Elementary School, Vista Middle School, and on to graduate from Ferndale High School in 1999.

In 1998, he started volunteering for the Ferndale Fire Department. Erich was always volunteering at the Fire Department with the pancake feeds, overnight watches at the parks, and cemeteries. One of Erich’s favorites was Christmas time when he and Brad (his Dad) would decorate the fire trucks for the Christmas Parade and the Driving Santa around for the Santa food drive.

Erich had a few different jobs before he started his job with BNSF in 2005. Erich had many tiles in his time there. Erich traveled all over with the railroad for about the first 5 years till he settled into a local position. Erich’s last position was watching over the tracks and the take-down of Ferndale Grain.

Even at a small age, Erich had a love for trains and firetrucks. Erich was an avid collector of model trains, Legos, and model fire trucks. Erich had a love for practical jokes and a sense of humor.

Erich was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was survived by his wife Faithann (Applington), daughter Nichole Rothausen, and son Hunter Cambridge. He is also survived by his parents, Brad and Rose (Morrison) Rothausen, sister Elizabeth Rothausen, niece Paige (Rothausen), and Christobal Rodriguez, and nephew Dominic Bailey. Adult Children Rebekah Rothausen and Maisen Hubb-Lentz.

Erich is preceded in death by his grandparents, David (2011) and Joan (Brown) Rothausen (2024), Donald (1994) and Mae (Diehl 2012), and father-in-law, Melvin Applington (2025).
