Nicholas Knaack

Chief Nick Knaack, Fire Chief for Pend Oreille Fire District 4, passed away in the line of duty on Monday, February 15, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Nikki Knaack, and three children, as well as a large fire district family.

Chief Knaack served with distinction and honor in the fire services for 25 years throughout Kootenai County, Bonner County, and Pend Oreille County. He always viewed the members of the fire service as much a part of his family as his wife and children. Chief Knaack was always there for members of his fire district, helping everyone to strive to be better. It’s difficult to put into words all that he contributed and what he meant to us. We at POFD4 will continue to serve with the dedication and pride that he inspired through his leadership and strive to fulfill his vision for the District. He will be sorely missed.
